Who We Are
Dos Ríos is a community of Argentine tango dancers based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. We embrace both traditional and nuevo styles, and organize milongas, practicas, and classes to bring tango to the city - welcoming dancers of all levels.
The Styles
Traditional - danced to the classic orchestras of the Golden Age: D'Arienzo, Pugliese, Di Sarli, Troilo. Close embrace, structured ronda, tandas and cortinas.
Nuevo - an open, exploratory approach to the dance that draws on the same vocabulary but invites more improvisation, open embrace, and contemporary music including Piazzolla and electronic tango.
Many of our events are mixed - check the style tag on each event listing to know what to expect.
What We Do
Milongas - social tango dances. Traditional milongas follow ronda etiquette with tandas and cortinas; nuevo milongas are more open in format.
Practicas - open practice sessions where you can work on technique, ask questions, and dance informally across both styles.
Classes - instruction for beginners through to experienced dancers, covering technique, musicality, and connection in both traditional and nuevo.
